Friday January 25th is the opening of the jazz event, Winter Jazz, taking place for the 8th time. At 50 venues around the country almost 200 jazz concerts will be presented over the 10 days of the festival. Jazz in all aspects are performed: Jazz for children, jazz competitions, jazz awards, jazz for fun and much more.

This year there is a special focus on Nordic jazz. The last couple of years Winter Jazz has become a Nordic event. Norway, Sweden and Åland island have their own Winter Jazz festivals before and after the Danish edition. Nordic tours have emerged from this collaboration with a total of 32 concerts with these bands and orchestras:

MARIEHAMN, ÅLANDThe line-up of international guest appearances is extensive, including Enrico Pieranunzi, Angelo Debarre, Marc Ribot, Andrea Parkins and Christian Scott, many of the including Danish jazz musicians in their ensembles.

The festival is coordinated by the Danish Jazz Federation.
