International jazz stars visiting Denmark at Winter Jazz 26 Jan – 4 Feb
For the first time in 20 years Marc Johnsons famous group Bass Desires is reunited. The band was formed in 1984 and released two albums that introduced a new sound in jazz with ringing guitars by John Scofield and Bill Frisell. At Winter Jazz they are going to perform February 2 at the Copenhagen Opera House.
Another international star to visit Denmark is Toots Thielemans who is going to perfom at the Danish island Bornholm February 2 together with the Danish pianist Niels Lan Doky, bass player Mads Vinding and drummer Albert "Tootie" Heath.
The sax player Bob Mintzer is planning to record a new cd with the DR Big Band at his concerts on February 29-30.
Another more Scandinavian-based constellation is the concert with the Swedish singer Marie Bergman. She will perform at Borups Højskole February 1 and is on this occasion backed by the Danish sax player Fredrik Lundin and piano player Maj-Britt Kramer with her Trio.
Winterjazz is arranged by the Danish Jazz Federation and Copenhagen Jazz festival.
