The international music business had especially  great expectations to The Figurines. Already before the showcase The Figurines played live in Canadian television as they were nominated at the International Indie Awards in the category ”Favorite International New Artist” just the week before the Canadian Music Week.

At The Bovine Sex Club where The Figurines played their second showcase both the regular audience and  the music business representatives were very satisfied with The Figurines live act.

According to ROSA the senior editor Stuart Berman of the cultural paper Eye Weekly  praises The Figurines for their promising and extroverted appearence on stage. Also the Canadian booker Linda Noell Bush points out the hype that The Figurines have been surrounded by at the music week. A hype that is very likely to generate success for The Figurines album ’Skeleton’ that were released in USA and Canada March 8th.

Further ROSA reports that both Kira & the Kindred Spirits and Tina Dickow did well at their showcases. Especially Kira & the Kindred Spirits received really good reviews of their concert.  For example Robert Everett-Green from newspaper The Globe and Mail writes: “Kira Skov is the kind of rock diva that comes along once or twice in a generation.”

The other Danish acts at the Canadian Music Week were The Blue Van and Pernille Gunvad.
