MXD and Phonofile
Two organisations working in the area of music receive support from the Danish Ministry of Culture:

Music Export Denmark (MXD). The purpose of MXD is to promote and support Danish music exports and the international presentation of professional Danish rhythmic music, both commercially and culturally, by:

  • providing economic support for Danish music exports
  • organising initiatives and concerts
  • improving international familiarity with Danish music
  • collecting and processing information and know-how.

MXD was established 2005 on the initiative of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), the Venue Foundation/Roskilde Festival and the Danish Rock Council (ROSA). This group was joined by the Danish record industry organisation IFPI Denmark, and the Danish independent recording companies' organisation, DUP. The broad level of backing encouraged the Danish Ministry of Culture to provide economic support in the form of a DKK 10 million grant for a trial period of three years.
Music Export Denmark (MXD)

Phonofile was founded in 2005 in a collaborative venture between the Danish record industry organisation IFPI Denmark, the creative and performing artists' organisations and the State and University Library in Aarhus. All music issued in Denmark is to be available for commercial and library-related use via Phonofile. The music is sold to recording companies for re-release on CD, and to Internet shops.
