Danish and Canadian contemporary music will meet when the Canadian ensemble Aventa and soprano Janice Jackson are on tour 27 February - 5 March. The tour features concerts in Montreal, Toronto, Halifax and New York. Aventa's Artistic Director, Bill Linwood, leads the ensemble which concludes in New York with the US premiere of Poul Ruders, Abysm.
The tour is named Moonlit after the first movement in a piece by composer Klaus Ib Jørgensen, and Danish music is prominently presented in the concert programme, where five significant Danish pieces will be played:
- Klaus Ib Jørgensen: Moon-Pain
- Poul Ruders: Abysm
- Bent Sørensen: The Weeping White Room
- Per Nørgård: Wenn die Rose sich selbst schmücht
- Hans Abrahamsen: Six Pieces
