Alexandra Grot from Russia was in focus at the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition. She won first prize and was also awarded the special prize for the best interpretation of Danish works, the Odense Symphony Orchestra Prize and the Children’s Jury Prize.
The third Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition took place in Odense 31 May - 9 June. In the final the remaining four finalists played Niels Peter Jensen’s Flute Concerto in a minor and Carl Nielsen’s Flute Concerto with Odense Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jan Wagner.
The second prize went to Lukasz Dlugosz from Poland and the third prize was shared between Marion Ralincourt from France and Grigoriy Mordashow from Russia.
The Carl Nielsen International Music Competition date back to 1980, when the first violin competition was held in Odense. The competition alternates between violin, flute, and clarinet. Each competition takes place every four year.
