At a press conference held at the Tønder Festival on August 26 the "danish roots" initiative was launched by the Danish Folk Council and the chosen groups finally revealed. The Danish Folk Council presented the names of eight bands and soloists chosen to represent Danish folk and roots music on the international music scene.
Three "frontrunners"...
The aim of “danish roots” is to assist eight Danish bands/musicians with international ambitions and potential to establish themselves internationally. Three of these names have been chosen as the "frontrunners" of "danish roots" and will be a part of the initiative for the next three years.
The three frontrunners are:
Eivør
Haugaard&Høirup
Instinkt
...and five to back them up.
Besides the three "frontrunners", five younger bands/soloists with promising international potential have been chosen to join "danish roots". During this time they will be able to expand their international network while representing the best of Danish folk and roots music.
These five bands/soloists are:

Henrik Jansberg
Trio Mio
Tumult
Zar
