The Spanish classical audience will be able to listen to one of the leading Danish string quartets, when the Kroger Quartet plays at a concert at the Academy of Art in Madrid 18 November. The concert is transmitted directly in the Spanish Classical Radio and is part of a Nordic Festival, where each country is represented at five different concerts. The Kroger Quartet will play Per Nørgård's string quartet no. 7 and 8 and Carl Nielsen's string quartet op. 5 in f-minor.
The Kroger Quartet was formed in Copenhagen in 1999 and consists of the musicians: Alexander Øllgård, Maj Kullberg, Sanna Ripatti, and Jakob Kullberg. The quartet has distinguished itself through performances at international music festivals in a.o. USA, England, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
The Kroger Quartet has a special interest in contemporary music, and they have worked very closely with Per Nørgård, who has dedicated string quartet no. 7 and no. 10 to the quartet. At the moment they are recording Nørgård’s string quartets no. 7-10.
