With their visit to New York in the middle of January (’07), the five enthusiastic members of this unique bastard-ethno ensemble take yet another step on the road to their supreme goal: Conquering the world!
In two weeks time Afenginn will depart for their longest tour to date – geographically speaking that is: To New York and the American continent where they will play with legendary American trumpeter Frank London at the event Global village Denmark-NY. The purpose of the Global Village event is to give visiting artists a chance to bring their music to New York and to collaborate with the best of NY based instrumentalists and music professionals - collaborations which will strengthen the bond between these two musical communities.
Frank London's prolific career as musician, bandleader, composer and producer with The Klezmatics (among others), and quirky experiments with jazz and Gypsy traditions, are a good match for the band’s trajectory. Among others Frank London has played with musical personalities such as: LL Cool J, David Byrne John Cale and Marc Ribot. And Afenginn are proud and enthusiastic (to put it mildly) to be added to this extensive list.
Afenginn will play two concerts while in New York: Thursday the 18th of January at The Rose Club and Saturday the 20th at Club Makor - The 92nd Street Y.
