The Music Centre is responsible for all matters relating to music within the remit of the Danish Arts Agency. The Centre's tasks include:
Providing secretariat services for the Danish Arts Council and its Committee for Music
Providing secretariat services for two Danish Arts Foundation committees:
- the Committee for Classical Music
- the Committee for Popular Music
Administration and advice in connection with arts subsidy schemes within the area of music
Responsibility for international cultural co-operation within the area of music
Information tasks relating to music
Providing information and advice on music schools (the music school consultant)
International tasks The Centre works to support, consolidate and raise the profile of Danish musical life internationally, e.g. as co-ordinator and medium for a number of musical activities abroad. The international tasks of the Music Centre include:
Projects in the area of music, in which the Danish Arts Agency functions as a medium for the Danish Arts Council and the Danish Arts Council's Committee for Music, e.g. in connection with Danish participation at trade fairs and festivals abroad
Projects in which the Danish Arts Agency functions on behalf of the Danish Ministry of Culture and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, e.g. the ’SuperDanish’ festival in Toronto
Co-ordination of state involvement in Danish music exports
Visiting programmes for journalists, concert organisers, etc.
Handling inquiries from international partners
Maintenance and construction of networks in international musical life
Collaboration with Danish musical organisations and institutions, particularly genre organisations
Co-operation with embassies, cultural institutes, etc.
Providing information on Danish musical life
