Jeppe 'Senior' Breum Laursen (vocals), Jesper 'Junior' Mortensen (vocals, guitar, bass)
The two party animals Junior and Senior, with their baseball caps pulled well up on their foreheads and just a single album, managed to play their way into the all-time top favourites of Denmark's dancing public. With their blend of electronica, big beat, hip-hop, punk and pure disco, they have also been one of the few Danish bands ever to make the top of the British pop charts.
Junior Senior began as the Britpop-based group Ludo X, who won the Danish Rock Championships in 1994. When this group split up in 1998, singer Jeppe Breum Laursen and guitarist Jesper Mortensen continued their teamwork and formed Junior Senior. The group's name derives from the simple fact that Senior is older and bigger than Junior.
In 2002 the group made their debut on the independent Danish label Crunchy Frog. The album had the idiomatic and rhythmic title ’D-D-Don’t Don’t Stop the Beat’ and included the single ’Move Your Feet’, which, with record label colleague Troels Troelsen of Superheroes on vocals, became a major national hit.
Rumours that Fat Boy Slim was interested in remixing the number opened the eyes of the Universal label to Junior Senior's hit potential; they offered the group a recording contract, and released the album and the single in Britain and the USA.
The reception, particularly in Britain, was overwhelming. ’Move Your Feet’ went straight to the number four spot on the singles list, while the album received good reviews in NME and Q-Magazine, and stayed in the Top Ten for nine consecutive weeks. The result was an appearance on the front cover of the gay periodical Boys Magazine and a spot on the ’Top of the Pops’ TV programme in the company of such famous names as George Michael and Christina Aguilera.
In September 2005 Junior Senior released their second album, 'Hey Hey My My Yo Yo', once again on the Crunchy Frog label.
