AKKS - The Joint Council of Voluntary Arts Association
AKKS is a joint council representing 11 Danish organisations which all are working with art and culture on an amateur level.
The aim is to strengthen the voluntary work for amateurs working with art and culture.
On a political level we refer to two ministries: The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education.
We have published a book called ”The Third Way of Culture. The book describes who we are, what we do and what valuable work is done for amateurs in Denmark.
Every year we publish a series of brochures with topics of current interest in the cultural debate. The latest is about children and culture. Earlier brochures dealt with the quality of our work and about learning.
In the years 2001, 2002 and 2003 AKKS received a total amount of 12,000,000 Danish Kroners from the Ministry of Culture. This provides us with the possibility to develop our work with amateurs.
