Andreas Toft (bass), Christian Hjelm (vocals & guitar), Claus Salling Johansen (guitar & backing vocals), Kristian Volden (drums & percussion).

With their eccentric and energetic guitar rock, Figurines have managed to charm both the Danish and international critics.

The foundation for their international success has been built up through hard work. In 2006, Figurines played showcases at Canadian Music Week and South By Southwest (SXSW), and toured extensively three times in the USA and Canada, during which they were given acclaim by the respected Rolling Stone rock critic, David Fricke. Recently, their international success has led to Figurines adorning the front page of the New York Times Arts and Leisure supplement – an honour never before accorded to a Danish band.

Figurines was formed in the mid-nineties by three childhood friends from North Jutland: Christian Hjelm, Andreas Toft and Claus S. Johansen. In 2001 the band released their demo The Detour, which led to a recording contract with the independent Danish recording company Morningside Records, whose stable also includes the band Under Byen.

In April 2003 Figurines released their debut album, Shake a Mountain, in Denmark, which was given good reviews and created quite a stir in the Danish media. In the spring of 2004 Shake a Mountain was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and Figurines went on tour in Europe. But it was the release of the follow-up album, Skeleton (2005), which gave Figurines their breakthrough outside Europe. Skeleton was released in Japan at the end of 2005 and in both Canada and the USA at the start of 2006, and is expected to be released in the UK in March 2007.

Figurines are writing themselves into an American guitar-based rock tradition based on garage rock. Shake a Mountain led to Figurines being declared a promising Indie band, but Skeleton from 2005 gave the band an even sharper musical profile than their debut album. The acoustic guitar licks and Christian Hjelm's fragile vocals point to clear inspiration from Neil Young's classic album After the Gold Rush, and the influence of the American Indie and lo-fi band Modest Mouse is also obvious.
